even though no DNA profile was a thing back then, Did anyone collect any DNA at all?

The case isn’t too old for DNA! That hat could be of value. There is a person of interest listed in the case but the details of how they could be related seem unclear.

So did they properly collect any DNA from the scene at the time of the investigation? Can they not test it… And even though the new company took over they should still have records of former employees. Or at least have someone that use to work there that knows the DNA profile. Was the person of interest John Manning questioned? DNA taken from them? What came of that?

I think my first question would be, was she a sex worker of some kind? This really seems like she had made an appointment of some kind with a gentleman, checked into a motel early in preparation for some kind of scheduled meeting which obviously seemed to go south. This one most likely fell through the cracks because vital procedures and essential testing was not done during the investigation. I agree with Detective Aaron, testing could have been conducted at that time. It just seems like it wasn’t done at all. Perhaps because she may have been a known sex worker in the area. Obviously there’s no proof to support this but this is the way it looks from outside the spectrum of having more information to go on.
