Casey Ryan Moehlenbrock

Found both facebook profiles for them.

The motherā€™s name is Jaime Haveri Moehlenbrock

I donā€™t see anything about a case or any family commenting about Casey. All facebook pages I found look like there was nothing said around the time either.

Hi, thank you for the reply. Iā€™m doing this on behalf of his cousin, though he was my friend, too. We know Nicholasā€™ fb page. And obv since this is her cousin, we know Jamie. We are just looking to shed some light on Caseyā€™s death and hopefully get some answers.

Okay, I did some light reading on Methanol and came up with some interesting things. First, thereā€™s a lot of different products that anyone can get a hold of that has it like printer ink toner, windshield washing fluid and different things that have to do with automotive fuels etc. But, the case here said Casey and Nicholas went to Nicholasā€™ grandmotherā€™s home and were drinking Moonshine. I found this explanation on a whim without actually looking for it -

" Items that may contain methanol include varnishes, shellacs, paints, windshield washer fluid, antifreeze, tobacco smoke and adhesives. Improperly produced home-made distilled spirits may contain dangerously high levels of methanol."

So, I didnā€™t know what it meant by distilled spirits so I looked that up to find out exactly what it means and hereā€™s what it said -

ā€œDistilled spirits can be simply defined as alcoholic beverages created from the distillation of fermented agricultural raw materials. They are primarily composed of water and ethanol (ā‰ˆ99.9% by volume).ā€

So in theory, if Nicholas or whoever was making their own moonshine in a homemade distillery, thereā€™s a chance the Methanol came from that and Caseyā€™s death may have been accidental, however if Nicholas was also drinking the Moonshine, why didnā€™t this happen to him as well. So itā€™s confusing but itā€™s something to look into for sure. Also, I copied and pasted those explanation right from google so this must be pretty common knowledge for someone who makes their own moonshine. I mean, it would have to be I would think.

Thank you for creating this case page covering Caseyā€™s death. This is exactly what we have created this platform for. Do you have a picture of Casey you could add to the case?

Paul- that is a good point. If Nicholas was also drinking the same ā€œmoonshineā€, how is he ok? Aaron, Iā€™ve added a picture of Casey. Thank you.

It doesnā€™t exactly get us any further in the case but it raises some questions that may have a few leads tied to it.

Does anyone know how to begin the process of trying to get his medical records? It would be a family member doing it. Iā€™m just trying to find the information for her. It would be in St. Louis County, Minnesota.

Yes, when you make moonshine, you should not drink the first cup, because "The more volatile components such as acetone, methanol and the various esters are undesirable; methanol for instance has been known to cause blindness. It is common practice to throw away the first portion of the distillate, this way you will get rid of the methanol " - Google

The methanol is very high and will definitely kill someone. IF Nicholas had made this before, he should have known this and may have poured out of 2 separate containers. What else did autopsy and toxicology say? Was Nicholas interviewed at all? What happened to the rest of the moonshine, was it consumed or was any taken to be tested? Nicholas should have been visited and questioned regarding the illegal making and distribution of moonshine and could have asked about Casey, if they felt methanol was the ā€œkillerā€. Google says, " No, it is illegal to produce moonshine in Wisconsin without the necessary permits and licenses from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue." and " Methanol toxicity (also methanol poisoning) is poisoning from methanol, characteristically via ingestion. Symptoms may include a decreased level of consciousness, poor or no coordination, vomiting, abdominal pain, and a specific smell on the breath. Decreased vision may start as early as twelve hours after exposure."
Iā€™ve had moonshine - store bought, distillery bought and purchased homemade through friends of friends and you can tell the difference by the smell.

I will be deep diving into this so I can find out more.

THANK YOU. I have reached out to the Duluth PD, Superior PD and St Louis County, and only Duluth messaged me back- telling me they have nothing. Thank you so much for thinking of Casey.

reached out to them regarding??

also, what did casey do for primary work? if he wasnā€™t exposed to levels of methanol on a regular basis, why was THAT not looked into? Nicholas should be getting some sort of premeditated involuntary manslaughter resulting in the death of another person, or something along those lines. if he was obsessed with casey to the extent of upset when they didnā€™t hang out, he had the mentality, ā€œif i canā€™t have him, nobody can have himā€ kind of deal.

please share links for me to do some more research

I asked for any information regarding his death and investigation, if they even bothered.

Youā€™re absolutely right, and thatā€™s what we think. I donā€™t know what links I could show you because I think all there is about this is his obituary :pensive:

you would have to go through the hospital. next of kin (or power of attorney) will need paperwork requesting ALL of the medical records for casey. this would be in the records department. you can have them emailed, but I wouldnā€™t risk them missing something. same with the medical examinerā€™s office.

What did he teach?! <3 also, I did some digging - based on what I can see from facebook (since Iā€™m not friends with anyone). If I am out of line, PLEASE tell me, as I am not trying to upset or offend anyone. I have some theories - please let me know if these have already been taken care of! 1. that it was a ā€œlove triangleā€ kind of thing and nicholas was obsessed with casey and kills him 2. glasses get mixed up and methanol is accidentally given 3. nicholas makes a move, casey turns him down, SNAP!

Premeditation? Reactive? Had Casey checked in with anyone after leaving the bar? Did someone read texts and recover the ones from the trash?
