Volunteer Needed: Forth Worth PD Cold Cases

Hello, I’m looking for a volunteer(s) who has time to do data entry and get the list of Fort Worth Police Department cases entered into STC. A little bit of mild research is needed to build the cases out a little further.

I’ve found that the agencies who list cold cases on their police sites have very brief blurbs and not detailed case information. I think STC case pages for these victims can help organize and draw attention to these cases.

If we have multiple volunteers, we could break down the case entries by decades similar to how they have it on their website:

https://police.fortworthtexas.gov/Get-Involved/cold-cases

I can help! Where should I start?

Do you want to start with the 1960s and 1970s listed cases? Try and collect and organize as much public information about the cases as you can, making sure to build out the timeline and points of interest.

Thank you for your help! I’m excited to see these victims get a homepage!

This is great that so many people are willing to help create cases for these victims! If this is your first case you’ve entered into STC, why don’t you start with one of the 1980s cases: Gloria “Lillie” Hefele

She’s the second case listed in the 80s cases. There is also a lot of public information available on her and her case to really help build out a full profile. Let us know if you have any questions!

Here is a tutorial video on walking through some the steps in creating a new case:

I would love to help as well! Let me know how I can help.

Looking good, thank you for entering cases! Don’t forget to add timeline entries for the case as well. Even if it’s just one date/time, use that section to get the timeline started.

Thank you for helping these victims not be forgotten!

I can help too! Please let me know.

I can help at info please contact me if help is still needed thanks so much

Hi Detective Aaron, I’m very new to the site. I have a case I want to input while I’m on vacation. All depending on the internet service. Once I enter my case and see how I do I would be very interested in volunteering. Just a question, what access do volunteer have to the cases and or what resources if any are provided to help with the research? Thank you Wendy Dube Montreal Quebec

Hello,
Welcome to the site! Thank you for adding cases. Normally for research it’s whatever us cyber sleuths can get our hands on! Open case information from police station, news article, posts on social media, google, tv shows, or even podcasts. Other users might have some other go to sites or access to other things that you might also be able to get into. I hope this helps you get started!

Outstanding! Thank you for your contributions for victims! On the roadmap are some very specific tools built in to help volunteers help with data on case pages. Stay tuned for more!

On a related note, y’all are doing an amazing job with these Ft. Worth cases

Thank you for helping these victims not be forgotten!
