The most wonderful thing I love about our Forensic knowledge is that it’s ever growing, expanding, and progressing to more successful heights. Our science research and development is so amazing, we find, lift, read DNA and other undetected signs of Forensic we couldn’t 30 yrs or even 5 yrs ago!
It would be great to re-check the Forensics again for any signs of a struggle where she would have fought back and attacked her perpetrator, lost somewhere under her finger nails or teeth. Also, retest all the blood samples and different splatters. The killer could have cut himself in the process, or other body fluids .
Was Christopher Wilder ever a suspect in this case? It says she called saying she been to a couple of different beaches. He was known for coherecing pretty young woman into coming with him to do photo shoots on beaches. He would then assult and kill the victims in different ways. Orange county was in his target area and he is already a suspect in another case of a 15 yr old girl there.
This case has Forensic and DNA written all over it. Christopher Wilder should be ran through CODIS for possibly anything else the locals might have missed.
I do not believe he was a suspect but this is my great aunt and when I asked my grandmother, Vicky’s sister if that was true she said it was not but people were calling and acting like her along with a bunch of false sightings.
My grandma just recently got a call from someone though stating they believed their uncle may have done it as he had spoken about her case multiple times after her disappearance in a morbid regard. He was a pedo and from what the woman said he was just a genuinely weird person all around with certain things. And also very known with the children in the area, she said her uncle had a truck with all of the neighborhood kids names signed including my great aunt Vicky. He was even interviewed as a suspect and the place she went missing there was no sign of a struggle and she wasn’t the type to get into a car with just anyone which leads me to believe she had to have known the person that kidnapped her and he seems like the best possible suspect.
I’ve been trying to look into case files as this is my great aunt and for the sake of my family’s mental health they have honestly stopped trying. I think there was a lot of mishandling in the case from what my grandma has told me her sister they tried really hard to label her as a runaway. They identified her initially off of a dental drag I believe and but she hadn’t had one for several years prior and my great grandmother and great grandfather never fully felt at ease with that so when dna testing came about they were extremely poor but a university in Florida offered to dna test her bones if they donated her body to science so sadly I do think any testing that could be done on her physically is impossible now but I’m curious what all forensics they have stored like crime scene photos etc.
I just responded to a different commenter but someone called my grandmother not too long ago stating she things her uncle could have been the culprit. He was very well known with the children in the area and was even interviewed as a suspect by police. I think he’s a good contender for possibly being the one accountable for her disappearance but he died of a sudden heart attack so we will likely never know
I just came across this article. I looked up Vicki’s case because she recently came up in a conversation. I think about her sometimes because I went to school with her and I saw that you wrote about an uncle. He was my step sisters husband’s brother. He molested me at that time along with many others girls I’m sure. I reported it tge next day and he went to jail for 6 months. The police came to my house years later asking me about vicki and the guy (aka, Harry) I told them what I knew. I believe he did it because of the way he acted with us kids. If he didn’t do it, I pray they will find her killer.
