Kidnapping + Child Abduction Suspects Who Are Not Caught?

When looking at unsolved cases, there’s a direct path to report on the victims who have been murdered or are missing. What about the victims who survived but their offenders are still out there? Having a case page on surviving victims is not appropriate, but what about that offender who is still at large and not been identified? Tracking their offense and details is important and should be happening! How can we responsibly do that? Should we include them in our “Fugitive” case types or have an “Unidentified Offender” section? I’d love to hear some thoughts from the community.

Here’s an example story that makes me think about how this case isn’t being tracked in any way but could be related to other offenses we report on:

An “unidentified offender” section makes sense to me. Examples would be attempted murderers along with rapists, robbers and abductors.

What about additional attributes for an Unidentified Offender such as child offense, sex offense, kidnapping and ??? that could cover the specific elements of the offense and allow for analytics behind the scenes to make comparisons.

That makes sense to me. It would be helpful to see which of those crimes have similar characteristics and might have been committed by the same perpetrator. Those terms you had mentioned would be beneficial.

This would be very helpful for researchers!

I would like to see your Unidentified Offender section be brought on line.

Include location: city/state - where abduction took place- school(univ/hi/primary) / park / street / mall / hospital /etc

Include if relationship existed w/ victim - relative / teacher/ coach / sitter / religious affiliation etc

Include if suspected in other crimes y/n and location(s) if known
