Dallas Trunk Murder from Unsolved Mysteries. This episode aired in 1999 and featured the story of a woman named who was abducted, put in a trunk, and left to die in a parking lot. She miraculously survived and was able to escape. The suspect was never caught, and a sketch of the man with a hat and sunglasses was shown on the program.

Thank you for reaching out to Unsolved Mysteries. We have searched our database but, unfortunately, none of the cases we profiled match all of those details. The closest we could find was a Special Bulletin about a woman who had been shot and her body was found in the trunk in Amarillo in 1998.
I also spent a good hour searching online for any references to an attempted kidnapping that matched the details provided. Unfortunately I couldn’t find anything from the mid to late 1990s.

I did research the case in Amarillo in 1998 and it is not going to match. It’s likely the details of the episode being recalled are going to have some differences than what was remembered.
The one piece that was believed to be from the episode is the offender against the girl was still at large and had a composite sketch of the suspect. I’m going to keep my ears open for more on this…

Could this be from the series “I survived” starting in 2008? Or is the one you are looking for really that much earlier in the late 1990s? There are a couple of episodes that involve women trapped in the trunks of cars when you search for that specifically.
