Was Ambers phone checked for who was texting her?
What did she purchase at Murphys, would it have any clue to lead to her killer?
Was there footage other than the car footage that would show her with anyone leading up to her attack?
Was her social media checked for clues in the lead up?
Was there any DNA evidence found and or tested?
Was it possible that she had a stalker or jealous ex?
Is there any additional information available or files that can be reviewed?
Welcome! Great questions. I have been doing some digging and so far I have only been able to find some information on a reddit posting about possible there being 2 people that were four wheeling where her car was found. I did see somewhere else that there was a mention of a possible ex but no details. It seems like nothing else is mention except what we have listed on the page at the moment.

Thanks for the reply, another thought I had was to find out what the autopsy shows as far as the blows to the head are concerned, was it likely someone taller than her? Or possibly someone she knew given they were possibly in her car with her.
Do they know what the weapon was?
Was it found?
Have the family tried contacting a local podcaster to get the story out there?
Is anyone able to communicate with the authorities handling the case to view the case files? Or gaining access through freedom of information?
Maybe there is a detail in the file that points to something significant?
I was told once that the answer is always in the case file, you just need to find it.

I am familiar with this case. Amber was seen running errands alone earlier that day. The last record of her is a CCTV shot of her driving with an unidentifiable occupant in the passenger seat. She and the vehicle ended up at the end of Old Sanders Road, a road that paralleled the intercostal waterway but only provided access to a few houses. There was no obvious reason for her to be there but there places along the road that afforded some privacy. No one except the killer knows when she got there but she began driving away sometime after 4:00 PM, when her shift a work was supposed to begin her shift. She couldn’t have driven very far when, apparently her occupant attacked her while she was driving. She stopped the car and managed to get out out directly under thenRobert Edge Pkwy underpass, but the passenger managed get hold of her and continue beating until she was dead. The passenger left the car running and escaped on foot.
All indications are that she allowed someone into her vehicle that day. They went to Old Sanders Road, probably to have some undisturbed time together. The autopsy did not reveal any indication that she had had sex, either consensual or not. Most likely they were just talking. (Tox screening found no drugs or alcohol in her system). The fact that they remained there past the time she was to start work would indicate either they were discussing something important or her was held against her will. Most likely the later since she was murdered soon after she left.
On reading this, it sounded to me like she had met up with a former boyfriend or at least someone who thought he had some kind of relationship with her and he was not handling her upcoming wedding well. When he couldn’t convince her to go back to him, he lost control. An all to frequent occurrence. None of the reporting made any mention of an ex-boyfriend and all indications were that there were no suspects.
A review of some websites where people local to North Myrtle Beach exchange information, news and gossip, revealed that there was an ex-boyfriend and there were rumors that he had killed Amber. Nowhere could I find any reports that he had been investigated, that he had (or didn’t have) an alibi and where he stood as a possible suspect. It is a little unusual for the issue of an ex-boyfriend not to at least be mention in news reports of such a murder. It has perked my interest.

Was there a location close by or linked to anyone known to her when they discovered another person in the car with her? Is it possible the police have followed this lead? Would be nice to have access to what the police can share. Is this something the family can request??
The more times i read the information the more i am convinced it was a person known to her.
It looks like the police aren’t giving out too much information and the family themselves have limited information. It looks like where she was found was on a dirt road way possibly from the photo I saw. So I don’t think it would have been very well seen? I would have a look at google maps and maybe see if there is any housing or something else that someone would run to. I’m not sure what authorities have or haven’t done since they are fairly quiet.
Its a shame. I know we are only classed as armchair detectives, but if the police work with people like us, we could be very helpful.
Do we know if the police actually read any of these posts? or do we need to email or call them directly to offer help or information?

DNA on Amber at all?
If not, afraid the only way this case can be solved is if the attacker admitted to what he did to someone else— & that person comes forward .
There was an article that stated that she fought back so they might have DNA but they are staying quiet until they find the person not sure.
You mentioned people talking about an ex boyfriend, do you know what his name is?

What did everyone think about the Nancy Grace special? Is there any new information that has come to light since this went to air?
Is there anyway of viewing the video of her in the car with the supposed suspect? Seems to be that there is conflicting views about whether there was anyone else in the car with her.
Hello user91 - I am going to be as politically correct as I possibly can - NAW I’m going to call it what has happened in this case the last 11 1/2 years… NOTHING!
The Horry County Police appears to have not performed one of the most basic things in a homicide. Until two weeks ago they had not interviewed any of the young men that saw someone outside of Amber’s car that day and they gave the HCPD their names/contact information on the scene ELEVEN 1/2 years ago!
They have been offered the most advanced DNA testing (M-Vac) but refused that.
I have FOIA’d the HCPD but only received a one page generic report.
I also FOIA’d the responding police department and received quiet a bit of information and dash cam videos.
Her cell phone is still in their possession (or should be in evidence) so who knows if they have completed any analyst of it - now or then.
There has only been ONE video released and that is the one in the Murphy’s gas station.
As far as the Nancy Grace coverage I’m thankful for the coverage but there were so many things that were taken from the previous Investigating Detective Jonathan Martin and he has retired. I’m not in law enforcement but I am a true crime/armchair detective and it appears I have more knowledge about this case than they do.
They have told that “funding” is not an issue – so why haven’t they released more “videos”, tested the DNA and/or pinged her phone? If they have why will that release some of this information to the public that they have taken an oath to protect?
Thanks for that, it is very frustrating for armchair detectives like us who feel like we have the solutions and direction with which to move forward. I feel the frustration.
Is there perhaps a safe space/domain where you’re willing to share the FOIs that you have obtained? I dont live in the country so not sure how i would go obtaining anything like this.
Maybe with a few extra eyes on those files we could help push the point to investigating officers what could be followed up on?
